MPAA Directly & Publicly Threatens Politicians Who Aren't Corrupt Enough To Stay Bought →
Reinforcing the fact that Chris Dodd really does not get what’s happening, and showing just how disgustingly corrupt the MPAA relationship is with politicians, Chris Dodd went on Fox News to explicitly threaten politicians who accept MPAA campaign donations that they’d better pass Hollywood’s favorite legislation… or else:
“Those who count on quote ‘Hollywood’ for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who’s going to stand up for them when their job is at stake. Don’t ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don’t pay any attention to me when my job is at stake,”
This certainly follows what many people assumed was happening, and fits with the anonymous comments from studio execs that they will stop contributing to Obama, but to be so blatant about this kind of corruption and money-for-laws politics in the face of an extremely angry public is a really, really, really tone deaf response from Dodd.
Wow. Chris Dodd is not only an asshole, he’s a stupid, tone deaf asshole. And so are all the asshole Democrats who are on the wrong side of this issue because they want money from Hollywood. Guess what, Democrats? You’re finally starting to reclaim the populist mantle that could help you win back congress and keep the White House. You may want to, you know, get on the right side of public opinion you idiots.
It shows, yet again, that he just doesn’t get it. People were protesting not just because of the content of these bills, but because of the corrupt process of big industries like Dodd’s “buying” politicians and “buying” laws. To then come out and make that threat explicit isn’t a way to fix things or win back the public. It’s just going to get them more upset, and to recognize just how corrupt this process is. If Dodd, as he said in yesterday’s NY Times, really wanted to turn things around and come to a more reasonable result, this is exactly how not to do it
Not that it matters, and not that I’m some kind of rich mogul, but I’ll say this again: I have lost more money to creative accounting, and American workers have lost more jobs to runaway production, than anything associated with what the MPAA calls piracy. Chris Dodd is lying about piracy costing us jobs. Hollywood’s refusal to adapt to changing times is what’s costing the studios money. That’s it.

#Minatures#wargames#painting Posted on December 23, 2011 at 6:41AM 6 notesI found mantic when a friend suggested an alternative to games workshops over priced offering after I said I wanted to start painting again, what he actualy said was it beggins with an M ill get it in a minute… He never did and I stumbled over Mantic while googling for miniatures and im really glad I did.
I ordered the Crazy Mystery Gift Bag on at lunchtime on the 22nd of dec and got it this morning at 9am on the 23rd. Now if thats not service I dont know what is, I dont know much about the actual game but with the haul I got its worth looking in to.
The miniatures are lovely, the detail is amazing and I was even lucky enough to get a couple of dwarf dogs and eleven cats in the mix which the wife thainks are adorable and which I might never see again once painted.
I got a nice mix of elves, dwarves, undead and a few orcs.
In the bag was :-
Dwarfs
6 x Dwarf Ironwatch
6 x Shield breakers
5 x Ironclad troop
5 x Ironclad Command
1 x Dead Dwarf
1 x Dog
Elves
4 x Scouts
10 x Spearmen Troop
10 x Spearmen Command
10 x Bowmen Troop
10 x Bowmen Command
2 x Dead Eleves
2 x Cats
Undead
20 x Undead Troop
10 x Revenent Troop
10 x Revenent Command
3 x Undead Cats
Orcs

Posted on July 30, 2011 at 6:44AMhttp://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12692/gloom
Played a game of this after dinner with friends tonight and have to say its the best card game I’ve played in years. Buying as soon as I can :)
Quick version, you have 5 family members and you must make them as unhappy as you can and then kill them off for maximum points before your opponent can cheer them up. The cards are transparent and modifiers can be seen through them, these can be blocked by adding more cards on top as various modifiers occupy different areas of the cards. First person to kill off there family ends the game and unhappiness or pathos points are totalled up to find the winner.

PermalinkRifts, Invasions and how I can group without socialising
Posted on May 22, 2011 at 6:07PMI’m not a terribly social person and with MMO’s doubly so. I don’t often group with other players because its a pain, Click, Invite, Hi there!, No answer and by then the mob is dead and your left waiting 10 mins for the respawn while selfish mcarseface is handing in his quest. But it turns out there is another way!
Public groups in rift are a fantastic thing, See a rift infesting the landscape and head for it in the knowledge that, Either, its yours alone to banish by wiping out the waves of mobs and if your fast enough the bonus boss or there are some players around to help in which case you can just hit the handy “Join Public Group” button and your all sharing the same goal but now scaled to you group size also you can see the class or “calling” and health of the other players in the group and all with out two words spoken, Perfect!
This expands up greatly when a zone wide Rift invasion occurs and tens of players form a raid group to swarm across the map taking down rifts, footholds and any mob unlucky enough to be in the way. Its chaos, every player for themselves trying to out DPS or heal the other, chasing the best rewards for making the greatest contribution but all in one swirling, boiling ball of cold steel and hot fireball flavoured death that would be nothing with without each other.
As I said I’m not a great one for grouping up but I really do enjoy thundering across a zone like a Mongol hoard and the sense of accomplishment that it brings. Oh and did I mention the fat loots?

Posted on May 22, 2011 at 3:14AMAs with everything I “get into” I end up with a huge amount of bookmarks to databases, Review sites, Podcast’s etc. I thought it might be an idea to list them here for others to find and also a one stop shop for myself as time passes.
